Springfield, MO – The Arkansas Travelers claimed both seven-inning games of Monday’s doubleheader against the Springfield Cardinals, both by the score of 4-2, before 4,471 fans at Hammons Field.
Game 1:
The Travelers (23-19) came out swinging against RHP Nick Petree (L, 1-4) in the top of the first inning. 2B Sherman Johnson and SS Eric Stamets sparked the charge with back-to-back base hits. RF Cal Towey then struck with a two-run double, bringing in both baserunners for the early lead.
