JUPITER, Fla. • Once the news spread through baseball that Cardinals shortstop Jhonny Peralta would miss three months with a hand injury, it didn't take long for other teams to speed-dial general manager John Mozeliak.
In this business "it's called ambulance chasing," Mozeliak said.
"I have made no calls," he added. "I'd like to see what we have," referring to in-house options Jedd Gyorko, Greg Garcia and Aledmys Diaz.
As previously reported on STLtoday.com, Peralta had hand surgery early Thursday morning in St. Louis, Mozeliak confirmed.
