As the Cardinals and his representative work toward an agreement, first-round draft pick Delvin Perez will visit St. Louis this week to meet with team officials, and the shortstop could even participate in batting practice Friday, multiple sources confirmed.
Perez’s advisers, who also represent Yadier Molina and other players involved in this Houston series, were in town Tuesday, though they declined to comment on how far along negotiations are with the club.
The sides are believed to be progressing, and the visit is part of that.
The visit will allow the Cardinals to speak with Perez, let him work out at Busch Stadium and possibly organize his first public appearance since the draft.
