The Cardinals entered the weekend as the most successful thieves in Major League Baseball, a group that thus far has demonstrated it has larceny in its DNA.
No team in MLB posted a higher success rate in stealing bases than the Cardinals through Friday’s games. They’d stolen bases at a clip 87.5 % overall this season. Twelve players have at least one stolen base and nine have multiple stolen bases.
“I feel like us, as a team, part of the reason we have such a high percentage is we’re not running just to run,” infielder Tommy Edman said.
