JUPITER, Fla. • Alex Reyes, limited to four big-league innings the past two seasons as he endured two surgeries, will face hitters for the first time since he pitched in Milwaukee last May 30 when he throws to a group consisting mostly of non-roster Cardinals batsmen on Tuesday.
Originally, Reyes was slated to pitch a bullpen session, but apparently has progressed a bit more in his continued rebound from lat surgery performed in 2018.
The Cardinals’ plan was to bring Reyes along slowly, although not as slowly as last spring, and have him available to pitch at or near the start of the season.
