ST. PETERSBURG, Fla.—Dakota Hudson allowed just one hit over six innings to the Tampa Bay Rays Tuesday night. But hit No. 2, a double by Manuel Margot, to lead off the seventh was a costly one.
Margot went to third on Kevia Kiermaier’s groundout and home on Isaac Paredes’ sacrifice fly. That would be the only run allowed by Hudson, who enjoyed his second successive strong game.
But he didn’t win. He didn’t lose either, however as the Cardinals rallied for a run in the eighth on a two-out walk to pinch hitter Lars Nootbaar and singles by Tyler O’Neill and Harrison Bader.
