CLEVELAND — The losing April that keeps on lingering has stuck around with little reminders clinging like cobwebs to the Cardinals.
The hard haul out of the first-month mess coupled with this stretch of 19 games in 19 days has contributed to fatigue that the Cardinals’ manager agreed is surfacing in the lineup. Several agents of change in the middle of the lineup cannot find their swings or get their hardest hits past a glove. And against the lowest-scoring offense in the land the Cardinals did whatever they could to keep pace.
Locked in a one-run tie with Cleveland through nine innings, the Cardinals conjured a single run without the benefit of a hit in the 10th inning to take a 2-1 victory Saturday night at Progressive Field.
