Today is July 31. For Baseball, that means the Trade Deadline. Teams may still trade after the deadline, the Cardinals even did it last year, but those players are not eligible for the post season, which is usually a drawback.

The Cardinals traded right-handed pitcher Josh Lucas to the Oakland Athletics for right-handed pitcher Casey Meisner. Meisner has started one game in AA.

The Cardinals traded right-handed reliever Sam Tuivailala to the Seattle Mariners for right-handed reliever Seth Elledge.
