It has been reported throughout the offseason that the St. Louis Cardinals are looking for left-handed bats. The rumor about the Texas Rangers looking to deal Nomar Mazara seemed to line up nicely with that goal. There were several reports, in fact, that put the Cardinals in the mix to acquire the young outfielder.
They did not, though. Mazara was traded to the White Sox in exchange for Steele Walker (a great name).
It is not prudent to lament on what we do not have, but to wrap things up, let’s briefly unpack what the Cardinals missed out on.
