Yadier Molina, with just two hits in his last 20 at-bats, gets Monday off as the Cardinals open a four-game series with the Cubs at Busch Stadium.
Molina also caught all 14 innings on Sunday afternoon, when he went 1 for 5. After the game, manager Mike Matheny said that while he didn't think Molina didn't look fresh, he did think he looked frustrated while in his slump.
But it's not a day off for Molina. Four hours before game time on Monday, he was in the batting cage at Busch Stadium, getting in some swings.
Matt Carpenter, who left Sunday's game early because of lightheadedness, is back in the lineup.
