Strauss: Cards' schedule takes tireless turn

Not to detract from the Cardinals’ applause-worthy 8-3 start, but the NL Central champs’ schedule got real Tuesday night.

Heightened degree of difficulty has less to do with the current opponent — the defensively porous but respected Washington Nationals — as with a punishing run that eliminates extra rest for starting pitchers while offering a semblance of routine for frustrated hitters.
