The rush to judgment has been considerable on the Nolan Arenado trade to the Cardinals, with one fringe pitcher and four minor leaguers going to Colorado. Some have called it the best fleecing since Brock for Broglio.
But the better way to judge these deals is to wait a few years, preferably until all involved have finished their careers with the respective teams involved in the trades.
Certainly, though, the presumed Arenado heist has a chance to rank with some of the Cardinals’ other whopping trades, which brought in the likes of Jim Edmonds, Scott Rolen, Lee Smith, Bruce Sutter, Jack Clark and Fernando Vina.
