Major League Baseball announced on Saturday that Cody Stanley, a reserve catcher for the Cardinals, has been suspended for 80 games following a positive test for dehydrochlormethyltestosterone, a performance-enhancing substance in violation of the league's Joint Drug Prevention and Treatment Program.
Stanley, who made his big league debut this season, is 4-for-10 with three RBIs and two runs scored in his brief taste of Major League pitching. The 26-year-old was originally acquired by the Cardinals as a fourth-round choice in the 2010 MLB Draft, and he's a .269 hitter in 497 Minor League games.
