Former Webster University All-American pitcher Josh Fleming, who is from Columbia, Ill., was promoted to the big leagues by Tampa Bay on Friday and is scheduled to make his big-league debut on Sunday, when the Rays entertain Toronto. He is in his fourth season of professional baseball.
Fleming, 24, is believed to be the first player from both Webster University and the St. Louis Intercollegiate Athletic Conference to reach the majors. He was called up from the Rays’ alternate training site in Port Charlotte, Fla.
