ST. LOUIS • Police Chief Sam Dotson stood in front of Busch Stadium on Thursday afternoon and promised an increased police presence as fans prepare to head downtown for the Cardinals' postseason playoff games.
The pledge comes after the shooting of a man in a robbery as he walked to his car after a Cardinals game about two weeks ago.
Dotson would not specify how many officers will be assigned to downtown during Friday's and Saturday's games against the Chicago Cubs. But he said a "significant" number of police would patrol in uniform and in plain clothes — on foot, on bicycles and in vehicles.
