Even though the St. Louis Cardinals rallied to beat the Cubs in extra innings in yesterday’s game, it came at a price. This morning Jose De Jesus Ortiz of the St. Louis Post-Dispatch confirmed All-Star catcher Yadier Molina underwent surgery to his groin area and will miss a month of game action. Ortiz reported on Twitter he was trying to confirm the news last night, but did not have anything for nine hours. President of baseball operations John Mozeliak confirmed the news this morning.
Molina left the game in the ninth inning of Saturday’s game following a foul tip off a Jordan Hicks‘ 102 fastball to the groin area.
