The Cardinals blow out the Mets behind seven strong innings from Michael Wacha, (Mandatory Credit: Fatih Akaydin)
Coming off a 14 inning marathon on Monday, the New York Mets and St. Louis Cardinals faced off for the second time in two nights and the trouble began early for the Mets. Within three pitches, the Mets trailed 1-0 and things didn’t get any better for starter Jonathan Niese as on a night with wrestling legend Goldberg in attendance, the Cardinals hit the Mets with a jackhammer.
Constantly laboring to get through each inning, Niese departed after five innings as skipper Terry Collins yanked his left-hander four batters into the sixth inning.
