After weeks of rumors, the trade deadline officially passed yesterday. The St. Louis Cardinals have been dealing with injury after injury to their higher caliber players, but managed to avoid trading away the farm for a two month replacement. However, that isn’t to say the Cardinals didn’t make deals, as the Redbirds pulled the trigger on three separate swaps to bolster their bullpen, and to shore up their batting order. But what purpose did these deals serve?
Relief pitcher Steve Cishek was added to bolster the Cardinals’ bullpen, which was already one of the best in the league.
