On Monday, the Springfield Cardinals placed top-20 prospect Aledmys Diaz on the 7-day disabled list. The club also moved infielder Cesar Valera up from Palm Beach.
Diaz was 8-for-33 (.242) to start the season with 1 home run and 2 runs batted in. On Sunday, Diaz pinch hit for pitcher Andrew Morales in the 7th and singled. Diaz’s last start came on Saturday as the Cuban started at shortstop and went 1-for-4 while playing a full 9 innings.
Jim Connell of the Springfield News-Leader had this tweet:

Connell says that Diaz was placed on the Temporary Inactive List, while the official transaction page of the Texas League says he was placed on the DL.
