An avenue for coaches who aspire to be managers continues to run through the Cardinals dugout as Skip Schumaker becomes the fourth consecutive bench coach to quickly advance to manager.
Schumaker is set to be named manager of the Miami Marlins, The Miami Herald reported Tuesday afternoon and sources confirmed to the Post-Dispatch.
The Marlins announced his hiring as their 16th manager Tuesday evening.
“Delivering a winning, sustainable culture with the expectation of getting into the postseason is the next step for this organization and South Florida,” Schumaker said in a release from the Marlins. “And I can’t wait to get started.
