Cardinals manager Mike Shildt and his wife, Michelle, were “enjoying a little quarantine time,” Friday in St. Simons Island, Georgia, where free-agent righthander Adam Wainwright makes his home.
Shildt, in a Zoom conference with reporters and sporting a hat reading “Big League Impact,” which is a Wainwright charitable endeavor, did not offer that he was on hand to land Wainwright for another year, which he very much would like to do. But, regarding another Cardinals high-profile free agent, catcher Yadier Molina, Shildt made it clear he was not even considering a lineup that didn’t have Molina in it as his catcher — even though Molina has not yet re-signed.
