There was a good reason Hall of Famer Red Schoendienst, who died at his home Wednesday night at age 95, could be called "Mr. Cardinal."
He played for, coached and managed the Cardinals for more than half a century and was a fixture at Busch Stadium and the team's spring training facility, becoming one of the most beloved figures in franchise history and in St. Louis.
We're hurting, too, and we'd love to hear your favorite memories of Schoendienst. Just leave them in the comments on this story or on our Facebook page, and we'll feature the best ones on STLtoday.
