Series preview: Cardinals at Detroit

Scouting report • Comerica Park has not been kind to the Cardinals. Since the Tigers’ park opened in 2000, they have been 12-3 against the Cardinals there and, counting one year’s worth of interleague games at old Tiger Stadium, Detroit leads the Cardinals 13-5 at home. The Tigers are also 8-6 in interleague play in St. Louis, giving them a 21-11 edge overall.

On Saturday, the Tigers will honor on the field members of the 1968 World Series championship club, which defeated the Cardinals in seven games. Some of the notables will be Hall of Famer Al Kaline, Mickey Lolich, Denny McLain, Willie Horton and Mickey Stanley.
