JUPITER, Fla. -- Jordan Schafer, who is trying to transition from an outfielder to pitcher, will have more testing performed to determine the cause of his forearm soreness that has bothered him his last two outings, Cardinals manager Mike Matheny said Monday.
Schafer, 30, said he felt soreness in his left pitching forearm after tossing two-thirds of an inning Sunday in the Cardinals' 9-9 tie against the Marlins.
He had the same issue following his previous outing against the Astros last Thursday.
"We're going to get him looked at a little more closely, but it seemed to be more in the forearm than anything that would typically indicate a bigger issue," Matheny said before the Cardinals' game against the visiting Astros at Roger Dean Stadium.
