MILWAUKEE — An ugly game for the Cardinals that mixed fiercely angry moments with messy ones cratered eventually into a loss that could have lingering consequences.
The Milwaukee Brewers jettisoned starter Jack Flaherty early and left manager Mike Shildt irate later all as part of one of the worst losses for the Cardinals in the history of this series and Miller Park. The Brewers scored nine runs on Flaherty on their way to an 18-3 victory Tuesday night. The loss left the Cardinals with welts — physically, in the box score, and on their frustrations. Catcher Yadier Molina left the game after catching a few innings with an injured hand and went for X-Rays after the game.
