JUPITER, Fla. • _Rookie Jack Flaherty followed three scoreless innings by Adam Wainwright and one by Jonathan Broxton with two spotless frames of his own against the Miami Marlins Tuesday as the Cardinals maintained a 4-0 lead.
Flaherty, who struck out three, also helped himself with an excellent defensive play. After J.T. Riddle tripled to right center with one out in the sixth, he tried to score on a a squeeze bunt. But the righthander, moving quickly off the mound, gloved the ball and flipped to catcher Carson Kelly, who applied the tag on Riddle.
PERALTA DOUBLES UP
Jhonny Peralta doubled for his second extra-base hit of the game, scoring Kolten Wong from first base in the fourth inning, as the Cardinals stretched their lead to 4-0 over the Miami Marlins.
