BALTIMORE • Batting ninth but hitting first, Cardinals rookie Paul DeJong has yet to take an interleague at-bat that wasn't production.
The Cardinals' freshly promoted second baseman has two singles and the first of the Cardinals' three homers so far as they've opened up an 8-1 lead at Oriole Park. DeJong singled and scored in the Cardinals' first rally. He drove in two runs with a home run in his next at-bat, and he turned the lineup over with an RBI single in the sixth.
Matt Carpenter and Dexter Fowler followed with back-to-back home runs to give Carlos Martinez plenty of cushion.
