Reynolds starts at first for Cardinals

With Washington lefthander Gio Gonzales having been so difficult for the Cardinals in past years, manager Mike Matheny has added one righthanded bat — that of Mark Reynolds — to Tuesday night's lineup for the game at Nationals Park in Washington.

Reynolds will hit fifth and play first base in place of Matt Adams, who is one for three against Gonzalez. Reynolds is one for nine with five strikeouts, but also five walks, vs. Gonzalez.

The Cardinals bench is without righthanded-hitting outfielders Randal Grichuk (disabled list) and Peter Bourjos (paternity leave). Lefthanded-hitting utility player Dean Anna was promoted from Memphis to fill Grichuk's roster spot and relief pitcher Mitch Harris replaced Bourjos.
