The Palm Beach Cardinals -- St. Louis' Class A Advanced affiliate -- won both games of its doubleheader against Brevard County on Thursday, thanks to a couple of strong performances from top pitching prospects.
Cardinals No. 3 prospect Alex Reyes picked up his first win in nine tries, dominating the Manatees with a three-hit, eight-strikeout performance in five shutout innings. Despite a 2-4 record, baseball's No. 90 overall prospect has a 1.98 ERA and has only given up two earned runs in his past three outings. In addition, Reyes is seventh among Minor League pitchers with 77 strikeouts.
