ST. LOUIS • Raw audio picked up by crowd microphones during the Cardinals-Cubs game at Busch Stadium allegedly caught fans taunting right fielder and ex-Cardinal Jason Heyward with a racial slur, The New York Daily News asserted in citing Twitter claims of four viewers.
ESPN officials are reviewing the audio of the game to determine if any slurs were broadcast on air, an official told the Post-Dispatch.
The Daily News' online article included a video clip from the game that comes from the Chicago-based Comcast broadcast. The clip does not include any audible taunts and no racial slurs can be heard during it, though the clip does reveal how loud and strong Heyward was booed throughout Monday's game.
