On October 26, 2014 the baseball world was shocked with the tragic news of the passing of Oscar Taveras and his girlfriend, Edilia Arvelo. The road in Puerto Plata was in poor condition, it was raining, and after consuming several drinks too many with friends, Oscar made the fatal decision to drive intoxicated, his red car colliding head-on with a tree, killing himself and his young girlfriend in the process. It was much to take in. It still is.
One full year has passed since that fateful evening and while the loss still stings, the initial pain - the chest-constricting, breathless, ears ringing type of pain - has been soothed by the gentle hands of time.
