The Cincinnati Reds, pounded 14-3 on Friday by the Cardinals and down 4-0 after two innings on Saturday, caught up and then passed Adam Wainwright. After scoring twice each in the fourth and fifth innings, the Reds tattoed Wainwright and Seth Maness for four runs in the sixth to forge ahead, 8-4.
Devin Mesoraco’s double, the fourth extra-base hit off Wainwright in a seven-batter span, began the sixth. Adam Duvall singled to right center with Mesoraco stopping at third. Second baseman Jedd Gyorko made his second good play of the game, diving to stop Scott Schebler’s grounder to his left, throwing him out as Mesoraco scored the lead run.
