Longtime Cardinals ace Adam Wainwright, who missed much of last season with a torn Achilles’ tendon, is assured of going more than a year without a victory.
After blowing a 4-1 lead in Atlanta last Sunday, Wainwright gave up a 4-0 lead he had against Cincinnati after two innings Saturday. Allowing two runs in the fourth and the fifth and three in the sixth, Wainwright was knocked out in the sixth inning as the Cardinals lost to Cincinnati 9-8.
Wainwright, in three starts, has an 8.27 earned run average and has given up 22 hits and nine walks in 16 1/3 innings.
