Reds close door on Cardinals

CINCINNATI • The Cardinals got a chance Sunday to see in a rousing, walk-off win against the Colorado Rockies the boost that can come from players added for the stretch run, and on Tuesday had to face the other side of the trade deadline.

In the ninth inning loomed the player Cincinnati kept.

Although coveted by multiple teams last week, closer Aroldis Chapman remained in red this week, just in time to welcome the division rival that has faced him the least but is most eager to see him gone.

Chapman struck out two and pitched a perfect ninth to wrap up a 3-2 victory against the Cardinals at Great American Ball Park.
