Reds back in front thanks to Cardinals' errors

The Reds are back in front of the Cardinals thanks to two unearned runs in the fourth inning.

Devin Mesoraco's single to center field scored Jay Bruce and secured a 3-2 lead. Two costly errors preceded the only well-struck ball in the inning.

First, shortstop Greg Garcia botched Brandon Phillips' grounder. Phillips then scored on a Jay Bruce single that pitcher Michael Wacha misfired to first base. The errant throw sent Bruce to second base, and Mesoraco sent him home.

Wacha ended the damage with a double play and the strikeout of Scott Schebler.

Gyorko, Fryer send Cardinals ahead

The Cardinals' recent power surge continued Sunday as second baseman Jedd Gyorko erased the Reds' early lead with a solo homer to center field in the second inning.
