Tyler Lyons had another quality start and the hitters did not disappoint Saturday night as the Redbirds won the series opener against the Iowa Cubs 7-2. The Redbirds have now won eight straight and hold a 31-26 record on the season.
Scoring began in the top of the second inning when Rafael Ortega hit a sacrifice fly to give the Redbirds an early 1-0 lead. Greg Garcia would extend the lead in the top of the third with a two RBI single to make it 3-0. Garcia went 1-for-2 on the night with two RBI’s, one run, and was walked three times.
