The Redbirds came close to a comeback on Saturday night, but were only able to put up one run in the bottom of the ninth and fell to the Round Rock Express by a score of 5-4. It capped off a 2-4 week that saw decent pitching, but a week where the bats just couldn’t put it together.
It started on Sunday with a 3-2 loss to the Iowa Cubs. Tim Cooney turned in a masterful game pitching eight innings while only giving up four hits and two runs and having six strikeouts. However the Redbirds would lose on a walkoff by the Cubs in the bottom of the ninth inning.
