Cardinals Chairman Bill DeWitt Jr. offered most of the pertinent statistics about the career of the late Cardinals great, Red Schoendienst, as he spoke Friday at Schoendienst’s funeral Mass at the Cathedral Basilica. The one that seemed to intrigue DeWitt the most, though, was that Hall of Famer Schoendienst, as player, coach, manager and adviser, had spent 67 years in a Cardinals uniform, counting spring trainings, before dying at age 95 last week.
