Rainmaker Wacha looks for command as game called vs. Boston

FORT MYERS, Fla. • The pitches, Michael Wacha said several times after his start Saturday, are coming out of his hand well, the snap of them and shape of them feeling fine to the touch.

It's where they arrive at the plate that he has to fine-tune.

The Cardinals' third-year starter allowed two home runs in trying conditions at JetBlue Park, where the Boston Red Sox defeated the Cardinals, 3-1. The game was called after the fifth inning because of the threat of ugly weather in the area. Wacha did not see the fifth inning to its finish, yielding after four-plus innings of work and three runs on seven hits.
