Michigan-born movie director and writer Dan Steadman worked in Los Angeles for 10 years before falling back in love with the Midwest while directing the 2014 film “Belleville,” where its star and executive producer Ted Trent grew up.
Now, Steadman’s locally shot dramedy “Proximity” opens in four theaters here this weekend. The film stars all local actors, including Cardinals pitcher Adam Wainwright in his first big-screen acting role.
Steadman, 42, who now lives in De Soto, spoke with Go! Magazine about his experiences here.
• Wait a minute. How did you get Adam Wainwright? Our producer, Kathy Kaiser — she is sort of a media fixture around here.
