BALTIMORE • At some point in between all the home runs Sunday and during one of the pitching changes they wrought, left fielder Tommy Pham and right fielder Stephen Piscotty met in the middle of the outfield and discussed how the Cardinals have only been at extremes.
When the pitching was at its best, the offense was AWOL, Pham pointed out. Now that the offense has found its fury, the pitching is fuzzy.
The result has been a team that cannot count on a second foothold to climb out of a hole they find themselves in again after an 8-5 loss to Baltimore at Camden Yards.
