JUPITER, Fla. • Nick Plummer, the Cardinals’ top draft choice out of a Michigan high school last year, will be brought over from the minor-league side to get the start in right field on Sunday as the Cardinals meet the Washington Nationals in an exhibition game here.
The 19-year-old Plummer, who hit .228 for the club’s Gulf Coast League rookie affiliate last year, is believed to the youngest position player to start a spring game for the Cardinals since they began training here in 1998.
Deck McGuire, signed as a minor league free agent, will start on the mound for the Cardinals.
