Piscotty slams door on Brewers

Stephen Piscotty’s second grand slam of the season broke open Sunday’s game with the Milwaukee Brewers in the sixth inning. Piscotty, connecting off former Cardinal Blaine Boyer, who just had been brought into the game, ripped his 10th homer 425 feet into the third deck in left to turn a two-run lead into an 8-2 cushion.

Facing Michael Blazek, another former Cardinal, Tommy Pham doubled off the top of the right-field wall. With one out, Matt Carpenter walked and with two out Matt Holliday walked, marking the seventh hitter Brewers pitchers had walked. Exasperated Milwaukee manager Craig Counsell pulled Blazek for another righthander in Boyer, whose full-count pitch to Piscotty was not nearly good enough as Piscotty got his third, and loudest, hit of the game.
