On the lineup posted in the clubhouse before Friday’s game against the Colorado Rockies, Stephen Piscotty found his name sandwiched between leadoff hitter Matt Carpenter and No. 3 man Kolten Wong.
Hitting second was a different situation for the Cardinals rookie. In his nine big-league game appearances since being called up from Class AAA Memphis on July 21, he had seen his name shuffled around quite a bit, specifically in the bottom half of the order.
He hit eighth on two different occasions. Seventh on one. Sixth another two times. He’s even had two pinch-hit appearances in the nine spot.
