PITTSBURGH • Cardinals closer Trevor Rosenthal, who has suffered four of his five blown save opportunities the last two years against the Pirates, allowed a run in the ninth Friday as the Pirates rallied to the game at 3-3.
Right fielder Stephen Piscotty, just inserted for defense the inning before, gambled on trying to make a diving catch on Starling Marte’s leadoff drive, with the ball bouncing past the prone Piscotty and going to the wall. Marte had a triple.
Rosenthal, who is 11 for 13 in saves this year, walked Chris Stewart on four pitches before Josh Harrison flied to short right center where Piscotty and center fielder Randal Grichuk brushed but Piscotty held on for the catch.
