ST. LOUIS -- The one area the Cardinals felt most confident building around as they retool their roster may now be another area exposed after watching Carlos Martinez once again walk off the mound ailing.
Martinez missed a month earlier this year with a right lat strain and then skipped a start last week while nursing an oblique injury. On Monday, a right shoulder strain forced Martinez from the game and likely back onto the disabled list for a third time. His fifth-inning exit interrupted a scoreless game and overshadowed the club's eighth walk-off win -- a 5-4, 10-inning victory capped by Marcell Ozuna's third home run in as many days -- because of its potential long-term ramifications.
