JUPITER, Fla. • For a young man who stands 6 feet 6 and weighs 215 pounds, Cardinals righthander Michael Wacha easily can be overlooked in the Cardinals’ clubhouse this spring. In a good way, of course.
Wacha is such a part of the fabric of the Cardinals’ pitching rotation that his teammates, bosses and fans don’t have to worry about him. He’s steady and dependable, low maintenance and under the radar if not underrated.
While fans have genuine concerns about three-fifths of the Cardinals’ rotation, Wacha appears to be one of the certainties after overcoming the right shoulder issues that plagued him in 2016.
