NATIONAL HARBOR, Md. • Given the chance to publicly lobby to keep Lorenzo Cain off the trade market, Royals manager Ned Yost diplomatically sidestepped a specific question about his All-Star center fielder at the Winter Meetings on Monday.
It’s no secret that Cain is one of the center fielders that could be an option for the Cardinals as general manager John Mozeliak looks for an upgrade at that position.
Yost acknowledged the difficulty Royals GM Dayton Moore will have keeping together the core that won the 2015 World Series.
“I think there's a lot of rumors out there,” Yost said Monday.
