The Cardinals placed rookie outfielder Tyler O'Neill on the 10-day disabled list, retroactive to Saturday, with inflammation of the groin area and purchased the contract of rookie outfielder Adolis Garcia from Triple-A Memphis in advance of Monday's game against the Marlins in Miami.
Garcia, 25, a Minor League free agent signing out of Cuba in February 2017, is batting .269 with 21 home runs and 67 RBIs in 98 games this season for the first-place Redbirds, ranking sixth in the Pacific Coast League in homers, fourth in extra-base hits (47), seventh in slugging percentage (.531) and total bases (186), and ninth in RBIs.
