The initial issue was described as a blister on Norris’ finger, but he showed the area Monday, and it was chapped and brittle. He said he was due to receive a variety of treatments that included a laser and possibly some “rodeo cream.” The Cardinals expect him to be available by Wednesday, if not before, and Friday at the latest. Since Carlos Martinez moved into the closer role, however, the Cardinals have tinkered with how to use Norris.
The Cardinals have been circulating through their lefthanded relievers this month seeking a reliever who can retire hitters like the Braves’ Freddie Freeman or Milwaukee’s Christian Yelich.
